Successful Investing V: The Contenders
Ken and Mark are firm believers in using their investing time wisely. That means screened list not only might contain the names of a few desirable candidates but also the names of stocks that for one reason or another are not appropriate for purchase. Distilling a screened list down to a contender or two is an art in itself! You must have a good idea of what you are looking for and a real desire to meet that need. Your experienced instructors will try to help you “Keep it simple!” and focus on learning with each decision.
In this educational webinar, Ken Kavula and Mark Robertson from the Mid Michigan investment club chapter presented the third class in their Getting Started 2 series, titled "The Contenders." As a Two Guys presentation, they discussed real stocks in real time while emphasizing their educational disclaimer and the importance of individual research. The speakers explained the history of Two Guys presentations within Better Investing and how the Manifest Investing platform complements traditional investment analysis tools. They provided an overview of screening techniques available through Manifest Investing, with a particular focus on the "Triple Play" concept—identifying stocks with crushed prices, inflated return forecasts, potential for PE expansion, and improving business health metrics.
The presentation centered on analyzing stocks that met triple play criteria using Manifest's built-in screening tools. The speakers discussed how to identify and evaluate candidates from the triple play screen, emphasizing that candidates meeting the screening criteria are not automatically worthy of purchase. They reviewed several stocks from the screening results, including discussion of Eradiment (a small, maturing company) and touched on others like Diamondback (a cyclically sensitive energy company). Throughout the session, Kavula and Robertson stressed the importance of understanding that screening results provide candidates for further study, not guaranteed investment recommendations, and encouraged viewers to do thorough fundamental analysis before making investment decisions.
The speakers also promoted their monthly roundtable sessions held on the last Tuesday of each month and encouraged viewers to subscribe to the Manifest Investing Roundtable YouTube channel, which hosts recorded sessions with commentary and slides for further learning.
